PENDING Install Software Update - How to make it work

Hello,

I'm wondering how you guys do it.
We have CM 1606 Current Branch.

I'm currently, as we speak, deploying a Surface Pro 4 and it's stuck at the "Install Software Update" step since yesterday (installing CU update). I didn't want to abort it just to check if it will finish. It didn't!
The device even went into sleep I think because I had to wake it up.

In most cases the step installs successfully but it takes a veeeeeery long time to complete.
In some cases it's just stuck and I have to kill it via TaskMgr to continue OSD.
This never worked very well since Cm 2012 R2.

The question is:
Do you guys install software updates during OSD? And if so, how do you make it work?

I think I'll just disable this step as it never worked very well.

Btw...
I have "Evaluate software updates cached scan results" checked.
It's not stuck at checking. It's stuck at installing.

Yes, I'm doing that now instead of the Update step.

I do have a question though...
When I click "Schedule Updates" in CM, it searches for available updates.
Now I already installed the Windows 10 1607 CU update of January 2017.
When I then search again (Schedule Updates) I still see the updates from November and December.
This is confusing as the CU Update of January replaces all previous updates.

When I check the properties of the image I do see the installed CU Update.
