Hi,

I was trying to install an operating System (win-10) on unknown computer colection through SCCM PXE but was unsuccessful.

My Scenario

DHCP , SCCM, WDS on one server
AD and DNS on another server
Client - Virtual Machines created in Virtual BX

I enabled PXE support for unknown computers and configure all other options that I guess I was supposed to. I imported and distributed operating system image and In built boot images and created and task sequence and deployed on collection of unknown computers. Although I failed. Then I created a bootable task sequence media and tried to image my PC, it was successful. Now my question is why can't I deploy operating system images directly from Network. I checked the SMSPXE log file and it was showing "No Advertisements Found!. I am attaching the log file as well. Please help me out and reply me if you need anything else.

Thanks in advance..

Rav

in your Task Sequence properties - Advanced tab - Use a boot image - is it the boot image you would like to use?
the other thing is to Re-Update to Distribution Point with the Boot image that you want to use

Hi,

I double checked it and there is boot image attached to it. Even though I re-distributed the boot image it is still same. I am attaching screenshots for your reference. The weird thing is if I create a bootable task sequence media and use that to retrieve policy, I see all my distributed task sequence there. I assume there is nothing wrong with task sequence.

Thanks

looking from the smspxe.log, it looks like it knows which boot image to use. please double check the deployment settings again for your TS. Delete the deployment and re-deploy with available for media and PXE

Hi Edy,

Sorry for late reply !

I already deployed with all different options but no luck ! I am using a virtual box to create new machines and deploy images. So my network structure is like this:

i am using a Cisco switch and i configured it according to my requirements. I am using a bridged connection in virtual box to directly connect the VMs to the switch. I don't think network is any issue because it is getting an IP from DHCP server and it it is shown in DHCP leases as well. Although if there is anything wrong in these settings please let me know. I went through many forums but couldn't get any answer. I hope you will help me out.

Thanks in advance!

is your Computer and the PXE Server on the same subnet? otherwise you would need a gateway and routing.
