SOLVED WSUS update installation result = 0x80070005

hello!

I'm having problems with the installation of

2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x86-based Systems (KB4019472) and
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB4019473)

error description in the colsole is "access denied" and the UpdatesHandler.log says

WSUS update (970dc0b3-07a2-4434-8df0-9008dcdc9f36) installation result = 0x80070005, Reboot State = NoReboot
Update execution failed.

maybe this is happening because of the size of the update >1 GB, maximum run time is set to 60 min.
log files are in attached.

i forgot to say I'm using SCCM 1702 and not wsus directly.
so this thread belongs to sccm part of the forum.
 
From the log files i see
WU client version 10.0.14393.594 - WSUS clients are Windows 10 and WSUS version is 4.0.
Can you check if you have installed the KB's on your WSUS server - KB3095113 and KB3159706. Reboot the WSUS server post installing the updates. Next, login to the WSUS server and use Server Cleanup Wizard on the WSUS server. If it's not resolved, try resetting the WSUS components

Let me know how it goes.
 
I'm running sccm and wsus together on a Windows server 2016, is it nessery for the patches to be installed on 2016 too?
 
Hello, We have the same problem with around 900 machines.
The problem occurs with KB4103731 (Windows 10), KB2976978 (Windows 8.1) and others.
The message Access Denied shows in SCCM console (1710 version) and the same when i manually installed.

AM looking for step by step doc to "How to analyse WSUS log files to resolve Windows update issues" on local windows 7 machine, any response are highly appreciated
