PENDING Windows Server 2012 R2 to 2019 upgrade TS issues

Hi, I have some issues during in-place OS upgrade from Windows Server 2012 R2 to 2019 using SCCM 1902 upgrade TS (provisioning mode/discoverystatus.mof ...) causing TS not to complete successfully and also CM applet in Control Panel is completely empty (all tabs there). Any help would be appreciated.

NOTE: During previous tests I was able to solve this by executing mofcomp.exe .\ExtendedStatus.mof command after upgrade is completed but I want to automate everything - maybe this command can be run before starting upgrade TS from Software Center or put as run command line step somewhere in TS itself

Hi - did you ever find a solution to this? We have the same issue. The CM Client gets blown to pieces by the IPU and the only fix is to recompile ExtendedStatus.MOF and then run a CCMEVAL and wait about 20 minutes for it to repair itself.

We've tried various solutions but they all seem to execute BEFORE the CM client gets destroyed. For now, we're just manually doing these two steps after the IPU completes.

Sorry for the bump but I'm having the exact same problem.

TS works and server does upgrade but it breaks right after the upgrade during the TS. SCCM client is broken so it breaks the TS.

Logs report unable to read WMI, Read SCCM policies and remove out of provisioning. TS breaks due to CCMexec not coming back within the 1800 seconds.

Running the mofcomp command to recompile fixes the SCCM client but it isn't a fix for the TS. I want to run more tasks after the server upgrade.

Did anyone find a solution to this? It's a very simple Server 2012 r2 upgrade to 2019 (VMware guest) with the proper drivers loaded.

edit:
SCCM 2006 (all rollups installed)
ADK tools: 10.1.18362.1
Server 2019 iso (untouched)

Here is the nasty part of the SMSTS.log

I already am changing the registry key for the ccmeval to notifyonly to True. Still no joy.

So the upgrade succeeds but due to the sccm client breaking during the upgrade the TS snaps off.

Googled around: found plenty of hits with no real fix as far as I've seen.
