SOLVED SUP/WSUS Issue - Sync Failed The operation has timed out

Hi I'm having an issue with SUP/WSUS.

In the WCM.Log i'm getting "HandleSMSClientPublication failed."

In the wsyncmgr.log i'm getting "Sync failed: Execution Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. Source: Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.BaseApi.SoapExceptionProcessor.DeserializeAndThrow" and also "Sync failed. Will retry in 60 minutes"

When I go to Update Services, it sits on the main screen saying "Loading" and then eventually fails and ask to "Reset Server Node".

I'm new to using config manager and wondering what my first steps should be at this time. My last resort is opening a ticket with Microsoft.

Should I remove the SUP roles and WSUS from the server and reinstall?

Should I remove the SUP roles and WSUS from the server and reinstall?

Did you do this ?. Was it working fine earlier and did you make any changes to the roles / was there any change done in the network ?.

It just started to do it a couple weeks ago. It was working fine since I took over for the last year and a half. No roles changed or removed. I checked with the network team and everything is fine on their end.

It synced this morning out of the blue but for the last week, unsuccessful. If I try to do a manual sync it always fails.

Before I suggest you to remove WSUS and SUP and install it back, can you upload wsyncmgr.log , wctrl.log and WCM.log ?.

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to upload logs at this time, However I can give the errors I repeatedly get.

WSUSCTRL.log:

Errors were reported in these WSUS Server components WSUSService, on WSUS Server

Failures reported during periodic health check by the WSUS Server "server name" . Will retry check in 57 minutes

Errors were reported in these WSUS Server components ContentSyncAgent,WSUSService, on WSUS Server "Server Name"


WCM.log:

HandleSMSClientPublication failed.


WSYNCMGR.log:

Sync failed: The operation has timed out. Source: Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.DatabaseAccess.ApiRemotingCompressionProxy.GetWebResponse

Sync failed. Will retry in 60 minutes

This issue is resolved. Had to rebuild WSUS
