SOLVED Software updates in upgrade Task sequence

Hello experts,

What changes do i need to make to get all patches installed as part of upgrade process. We are upgrading from 1607 to 1803.

Sorry i did not get that. You want to first install all the updates for 1607 version and then perform 1803 upgrade ?.

Thanks for the reply Prajwal, I want to install 1803 updates after upgrading OS. I have added the install software updates step but it taking ever and its installing some but it failed at certain point. I sthere any better way? I tried to schedule updates for the wimfile but it breaks the wim all the time

Hey mate, I don't think this is possible the install software updates in the TS is related to the Windows Updates, but what you are talking about are feature updates and they come with the Windows 10 servicing plans, you can't include this within the TS. I might be wrong but I never seen anyone tries to upgrade Windows 10 through the OSD task sequence.

What you can do to achieve the upgrade;
1- Create an in-place upgrade TS that will upgrade from 1607 to 1803.
2- Utilize Windows 10 servicing plans and start deploying to the machines you want to upgrade (This is the easier and better option),

I achieved this by adding step in TS to trigger the software updates. As soon as upgrade finishes the software update are getting installed
