PENDING SCCM Client action cycle for packages

Thanks Prajwal Desai

The thing that is not clear for me is how and when client knows that there is package assigned to be deployed on it?. is it only running the Machine policy retrieval. The idea is that I want to speed up deployment of package for hundreds of PCs.

Thanks

When you deploy a package, you either make it available or deploy it as required. When you deploy the package to a collection and make it available, the content / program will be available to the computers as soon as its been available with the DP.

When you deploy a package as required to a collection, you set the schedule when the deployment will be available and when it will expire. Based on this schedule the deployment happens. You cannot force / speed up the process by running any action cycle here.

It is clear now that Package deployment can't be speed up and clients have to wait till get the policy and contact DP. So, the interval should be maximum equals the Machine policy retrieval cycle which is 90 Minutes. Please correct me if I am mistaken and Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks

Machine Policy retrieval happens on the cycle specified in the client settings and is by default every 60 minutes although this can be forced in a few different ways including initiating a machine policy retrieval and evaluation cycle of the client. There is no difference between the policy retrieval for required or available deployments.
