Hi,

I need to move the server that is hosting my SCCM 2012 Primary Site and SQL into our new Data Center. In doing so i need to change the actual server name to comply with the naming conversion for that location.

How do I go about renaming the server once the move is complete, without breaking SCCM?

As per Microsoft article, once a site system server is installed, it's not supported to change:
  • The domain name of the domain where the site system computer is located.
  • The domain membership of the computer.
  • The name of the computer.
If you must change any of these, you must first remove the site system role from the computer and then reinstall the role after the change is complete. If this affects the site server computer, you must uninstall the site and then reinstall the site after the change is complete.

Thanks for the reply. I guess its best to leave the name as it is for now. You may mark this as resolved.
