SOLVED Content Stops Distributing

Hi,

I have been using SCCM for a good 5 years without issues, and all of a sudden contents stops distributing. The only way to get it to distribute again is to restart the SMS_Executive component. After a while content will stop distributing and i have to restart the SMS_Executive service again,

When content stops distributing, the PkgXferMgr.log and Sender.log contains lots of entries like the below:

PkgXferMgr.log
No capacity for send request. <ID> will be sent to <DP FQDN> at a later time.

Sender.log
Checking for sending capacity. Used 0 out of 5.

SCCM Setup
We are currently using CB 2006, primary site server and SQL server are hosted on separate hyper-v VMs.
We have five source DPs which are hosted in five different regions. Each region has 200 pull DPs pointing at the source DP in that region.

Any ideas what this could be?

Are you distributing lot of packages to remote DP's ?. If yes, check the Software Distribution settings and check the settings.


How many packages do you foresee getting added/updated/distributed simultaneously on an average?
How many DPs do you have in the site? How is the network configuration between the site server and these DPs?

My settings were 30x30 dropped it to 20x25 to bring the total number of threads below 750 as recommended. My server was looking rather busy with my previous settings. Will monitor and report back.

Hi,

Adjusted the DP distribution values and content picked up a little then stopped flowing. Could you recommend a good setting for this, as mentioned, we have five source DPs which are hosted in five different regions. Each region has approx 200 pull DPs pointing at the source DP in that region.

I will have 6 update packages distributing on patch Tuesday and another 5 packages.

I do have a BITS policy in play on the pull DPs which limits the bandwidth used between 7am and 7pm.

Identified the issue.. once I was granted access to logon to the server hosting the SQL role, I identified one of the volumes on the server was full. I extended the volume and content started to flow again
