Hi Guys,

Installed this hotfix last friday around 10:30am. All seemed to go well but on Monday the other sysadmin said he couldn't add devices to a test collection. Same issue with other collections. I took a look at the hotfix and the status showed that it had completed but under "updates and servicing" it was still "installing."

I then noticed that most logs hadn't been updated since I installed the hotfix. Also noticed that I can't query most of the components in configuration manager service manager.

We have gone down about a dozen different rabbit holes chasing eventvwr errors, CMUpdate.log errors, etc... with no luck. I have tried a database restore as well as a site/database restore with no luck as well. Any suggestions on how to get us back up and running would be appreciated. Thanks all!

Looks like you didn't allow the installation of hotfix properly. Could you post the cmupdate.log ?. Why did you do a DB restore and what version is your configuration manager running now ?.

CMUpdate.log says that the login to the database failed for "NT Authority\SYSTEM" even though that user is part of the "sysadmin" role within SQL server. Thought something might have happened with the DB so I restored to a known good copy just to cover my bases.

I'm sure you're right about the hotfix not installing properly, but it had been running for 3 days. I don't know that I could have done much differently.

Current version is 5.00.8412.1000

CMUpdate.log is attached (changed extention to .txt). Appreciate you taking the time to take a peek. Thanks a lot

I'm having a similar issue where it is stuck on "installing". Reviewing the cmupdate.log is giving the following sequence

*** Failed to connect to the SQL Server, connection type: SMS ACCESS. CONFIGURATION_MANAGER_UPDATE 6/16/2017 11:32:53 AM 1676 (0x068C)
INFO: SQL Connection failed. Connection: SMS ACCESS, Type: Unsecure CONFIGURATION_MANAGER_UPDATE 6/16/2017 11:32:53 AM 1676 (0x068C)
*** [08001][18][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SSL Security error CONFIGURATION_MANAGER_UPDATE 6/16/2017 11:33:57 AM 1676 (0x068C)

Any guidance is much appreciated!
