Hi,
I am setting up a new Config Manager server. After it's installed I can figure out why in Component Status The SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER and SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER keeps on popping error messages.

MP Control Manager detected User Service is not responding to HTTP requests. The http error is 401. text: Authentication failed.
Possible Cause: IIS Service is not responding.
I restarted the W3SVC also restarted the Site from IIS doesn't seems to help

I checked the IIS log I see this line happened the same time the MPControl.log shows the 401 error
2022-04-04 19:47:25 ::1 GET /CMUserService_WindowsAuth/applicationviewservice.asmx - 80 - ::1 SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER - 401 0 0 5204 2

What is authentication is it referring to and what am I missing?

Thanks,
Henry

Fixed it by switch IIS authentication from Anonymous to Windows authentication.

Hi all good?

IIS authentication from Anonymous to Windows authentication. - How?

Can you please explain?
I only see Anonymous and not Windows authentication.
I did edit on Anonymous and put my user. Is this ok?
Regards
Rick

For Me same kind of error, but error code was 404, In IIS bingings, it shows only 443 record so I added record for port 80 and restarted the IIS service, then the MP went up. My firewall team, just turned on the servers Firewall, I don't know how exactly it removed from the bingings, anyway its working now!
