Our SCCM server was accidentally erased and was restored from backup. Everything worked for a couple of weeks. A couple of days ago a workstation was imaged in the morning just fine and then later another machine could not be imaged. It displays a message "Failed to Run Task Sequence. This task sequence cannot be run because the program files for <name here> cannot be located on a distribution point." The files are on the server but the DP is no longer being recognized for some reason. Around the time the problem surfaced the server checked for Windows updates but it does not appear any updates were recently installed. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? I am new to SCCM. We are running 2309. Thanks in advance.

There are just so many thing that can go wrong. That if the restore was not done "correctly" bad things can happen. They can take months to see.

At the end of the say there is go getting around that you need to dig into the logs and see what is broken.
Well we got things imaging again. Not exactly sure what happened but went through and was able to re-deploy to the DPs. Thanks for your responses.

How old was the backup compared to the restore? less than 24 hours? Did you open a support case with MS to do the restore? Did you restored everything is the exact order or what?

I didn't do the restore myself but I believe it was from the night before and it was a complete restore of the server. Following the restore we re-imaged about 200 computers a few days later without issue. The system continued to work up until a couple of days ago. One weirdness we saw was an admin user couldn't login to the server. His profile was missing and we had to delete a bak entry in the registry to get him in again. He can login now.
