Hello all,

The problem we are having seems a bit like (https://forums.prajwaldesai.com/threads/clients-disappear-from-the-console.2730/).
After installing the SCCM client (everything seems to install fine and the client on the pc seems to be just fine (all the correct settings etc.) a few pcs just disappear from the SCCM console.
After doing a device discovery, the system is found again but showing without the client in the SCCM console, while everything on the pc (logs etc.) still seems to be fine.
When we install the client again, the pc disappears again and so on...

We have checked for any duplicates but we were unable to find them.

Only thing I found so far is this log message in SMS_DISCOVERY_DATA_MANAGER:

Code:
Discovery Data Manager has processed a discovery data record (DDR) for computer "DFTE0791" with the SMS identifier of "GUID:6a46df72-624d-4c47-ae6a-cbd068d177bb" which has reported a new SMS ID of "GUID:df2abaf4-c6c4-4603-8927-ffa432fe8aec".

When I search the first GUID, I end up with an Unknown computer:

When I search the second GUID, nothing is found:

Did you examine the logs on client machine?. They might give us some hints as to why this is happening.

If the client agents are disappearing from the console, they are probably not communicating with management point. You have to examine the logs here as there is no other way to troubleshoot this issue.

Do you see any error on this log file - C:\Windows\ccmsetup\Logs. Please double whether you can able to download the source code from MP location.
Next, check the boundaries.

Update the DNS settings manually in client machine and reboot the machine. wait up to 15 mins and run discovery . this could solve your issue.

No there were no errors there.
The strange thing was that on the client side it looked like the communication was just fine.

After days of the clients just disappearing, also after multiple reinstalls, it kind of looks like it solved itself, still no clue what the problem was though..

I came across a similar issue earlier. Whenever a machine got a new IP address from a DHCP server (Particularly VPN sites) , the DNS server pointed to different settings. This caused the machine inactive in CM.

Sometime, the machine was placed on a different OU in AD. move to standard OU , ensure required ports are enabled. run discovery again.

update the DNS settings manually and observe for a few days.

Hello,

Not sure that was the issue but I will keep that in mind, thank you!

Anybody find a fix for this? I am having the exact same issue in my environment currently.
