Hi,

I was wondering if you had any advise/guidance on the below issue I'm experiencing.

I have installed Windows server 2022 datacenter edition and have SQL server 2019 standard installed and updated it to the latest CU. I've installed WSUS from Server Manager and I chose not not use SQL database but use the WID. It fails with:-

"Fatal Error: The schema version of the database is from a newer version of WSUS than currently installed. You must either patch your WSUS server to at least that version or drop the database.".
Windows update is showing as up to date also. However, I cannot see any WSUS update to obtain so I presume its on the current version? I've checked the local WSUS Administrator and Reporter groups, they were blank so I've added in domain admins and the admin account, re-tried WSUS post install tasks but still fails. I have noticed that when it fails, the WSUS service and World wide web publish service stop running. I can immediately start them and get no errors. But it stops as soon as it runs the WSUS post install tasks. I've also tried loading WSUS console, it prompts advising post-install process to run and the content directory path, I click ok and fails also.
Any ideas how to resolve at all? It's a fresh install into a newly setup domain. I have a Windows server 2022 datacenter DC and setup same version of the server and have made it a member server, all ok until WSUS. I'm reluctant to uninstall WSUS as it was installed fresh so looks to be a issue.

Once this is resolved, I'm looking to setup SCCM.

Many thanks for help/assistance.

Kev

Hi,
