Hi,

For past 2 weeks SMS Inventory Process is getting lot of errors. I turned off software Inventory in client settings as I thought that might fix the issue but we still keep getting errors where the .SID file is larger than the defined maximum allowed size of 10000000.

There are lot failed Inventory files that keep getting moved to BADSINV folder in the inbox.

Any idea how to troubleshoot this issue?
BADSINV folder is at 25 GB, is it okay to delete the files inside that folder?

It's fixed now, It took around at least 5-7 days after turning off the Software Inventory for those error messages to stop. Not sure why it took that long.

I have no requirement for Software inventory, Hardware inventory is all I need for now.

Thanks for your help :)
What is unclear with the error messages? You have exceed the size limit and computer doesn't existing within the db. On top of that It is NOT recommend to enable SW inv. there are just far too many problems and it is NOT reliable.

Hi Garth,

Thanks for your reply. Our company decided to get an external contractor to configure SCCM and they configured the Software Inventory. They setup the Software Inventory cycle to 15 min. Now I need to fix all these issues.

It's been 3 days since I turned off the Software Inventory cycle but we still keep getting those 3708 and 3701 errors. It's not happening to all the devices, it just a few devices. I checked the inventoryagent.log file for a few of the devices that were generating those big .sid files but there are no errors, it says successfully uploaded the inventory data to MP.

The major issue is that the BADSinv folder is filling up, it's at 28 GB right now. Is it okay to delete the files inside that folder?

Software Inventory Processor failed to process software inventory file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\auth\sinv.box\QT0HRQ5N.SID," and has moved it to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\sinv.box\BADSinv\hytpgt9o.SID.

Thanks

15 Minute!!!??! SW inv will never complete in that timeframe! Your computers will be busy 100% of the time! First change it 14 days! Next define EXACTLY why you are using it.
