I created a deployment package for some windows updates in SCCM 2012. As a part of the creation process I defined a package source located on a share on the SCCM server. The deployment package was created successfully but the package source directory is empty. Is there supposed to be data in the package source directory? I dont understand what the package source directory is used for. Thanks

The folder defined as the package source for the Deployment package is empty. When will the files be downloaded to this folder? What access right are needed for the share? Thanks

Access required - grant write permissions to SMS domain administrators only. grant read permissions to the security context for the SMS executive on the site server. This is either the SMS Service account or the local computer account, depending on the configuration. Do not grant Read permissions to users of lower credentials. In particular, do not grant read permissions on the folder to the Everyone group.
