PENDING SCCM scheduled application installs

Hi there

Using sccm 2012 r2.

Wanting to deploy/install a 500mb msi overnight to workstations from 2am to 5am in stages of 200 machines per day (device collections set up already), mon to thrs then after 2 weeks install asap for any machines not on overnight.

This will reduce the day time bandwidth etc.

Wanting the download to the client at 2am too.

Just wondering the best way to achieve this?

Just plan to deploy the application according to the desired day/time :



The type of of application deployment must be "Required" not "Available".

If you schedule an available time say from 21/09 at 2am, if adding new device collections at 1pm daily (dcs by subnets) will the clients download the software at 1pm or 2am ish as the available date will then be in the past.

Hi,

If you add a member into that collection at 1PM, the deployment will then run as soon as the computer received the machine policy not at 2AM.

I would recommend to use the collection maintenance windows to control that. I never tested this, so am not 100% sure how it will behave.

@mels_101, you can configure the deployment application cycle every 30 minutes in your clients settings.
