SOLVED SCCM not executing CMD for a installer

Hi,
I have the following command not getting executed via task sequence:

C:\Tools\Solvers\hwSolvers2022.3_win64.exe –i silent –f "C:\Tools\Solvers\hw2022.3_installer.properties” -DACCEPT_EULA=YES

The files are copied to C:\Tools in an earlier step in the task sequence. The command above has been confirmed by the vendor for this software installation and works fine when I manually run it on the endpoint. Below is the screenshot of the Installing Solvers 2022.3 sequence that's failing.

It has been tried to be executed with admin account as well but still failing.

Hi,
I have the following command not getting executed via task sequence:

why dont you use a package or application instead of a tasksequence. everything will be run from ccmcache with no need to copy the files to c:\scratch folder

C:\Scratch folder is actually needed to be created as part of the application, it uses the folder as a temp folder to write temp files.

The silent installer as per vendor's manual says that the following command needs to be deployed for a successful install, I have tested the command and it works fine when run manually on the endpoint with the admin rights.

The service account SCCM is using is part of the workstationadmin group so it should have all the admin right.s


I have created a package for this installer and using bat file with the following command to run:

hwSolvers2022.3_win64.exe –i silent –f "\\SERVER\applications\Altair\Solvers2022.3\hw2022.3_installer.properties" -DACCEPT_EULA=YES

However, it fails and the smslogs show that it has added server DQDN path before the exe file.

\\SERVER\applications\Altair\Solvers2022.3\hwSolvers2022.3_win64.exe –i silent –f "\\SERVER\applications\Altair\Solvers2022.3\hw2022.3_installer.properties" -DACCEPT_EULA=YES

With this added FQDN path before the exe, it must be causing the issue from what I understand.

Is there any other way to deploy this so that it just runs the command as per the install guide ? Thanks

try the app deployment toolkit.

It is unclear did you testing the install using the Local System account? It is important to do this step. as the Local system account does not generally have access to UNCs.
