Hi guys,

is there an easy way to move the installation directory of MEMCM to another drive? Or do I have to shut down the services and move it with copy & paste e.g. with Fastcopy?

I could move the contentlib with contentlibrarytransfer.exe from the SCCM 2012 toolkits, is there possibly something similar for the installation directory?

I haven't tried this earlier, but I guess you need to stop the services prior to moving it to another directory. What is the actual purpose of moving it to different directory ?

Hi Prajwal,

thank you for your reply. The purpose is that we have all drives from the SCCM in raw device iscsi mappings and our new backup software can't see the drives over vmware vcenter backup. I have all things move e.g. contentlib, wsus, etc. These stuff was really easy because for that exists informations in the net but for the raw installation directory their I can't find nothing.

I want to copy all on the new drive and disable the old drive and switch the new drive to the old drive letter.

The post can be closed, because I could move the installation dir as expected. Thanks for the support.

Here are the steps how to do that.

1. Stop all Services.

- net stop CmRcService
- net stop CONFIGURATION_MANAGER_UPDATE
- net stop CcmExec
- net stop SMS_EXECUTIVE
- net stop SMS_NOTIFICATION_SERVER
- net stop SMS_SITE_BACKUP
- net stop SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER
- net stop SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP
- net stop SMS_SITE_VSS_WRITER
-net stop W3SVC
-net stop WDSServer

2. If SQL is installed on the same Server stop all services too.

3. Change Drive Letter from the installation directory e. g. from K to G

4. Mount new drive and give the Drive the old Letter e. g. K

5. Copy with tool fastcopy all files from old drive to new drive with ACL enabled.

6. If the copy Job is succesful start all services back.

7. Check in Configration Manager Console Monitoring the Component Status for errors.

8. Finish
