I've had this weird issue recently on some endpoints where when I click install next to a software update it shows preparing to download, but when I click off of it, it shows past due - will be installed again. If I click on the update, it just has an install button again.

The message "Past due - will be installed" in Software Center means that a software update or application deployment has passed its deadline but is still scheduled for installation by the system. This can happen due to various reasons, including maintenance windows, deployment settings, or even client-side issues
