Hi,
In a multisite deployment, where I have a standalone primary site server PSSERVER1 with Site server role,SUP role,DP role,MP role installed and a remote site with DP(distribution point) site system role installed. As part of windows software updates deployment I have created a software updates group and deployment package. Initially the deployment package is distributed to local primary DP on server PSSERVER1, then I have added the remote DP on server REMOTE01 and then distributed the same deploment package to the remote server DP. I have created one site assignment boundary group, where i have added all the sites into it and two more boundary groups BGCONTENT1 and BGCONTENT2 for content location one for each site assigning PSSERVER1 into references site system on BGCONTENT1 boundary group and assigning REMOTE01 server and PSSERVER1 as DP and SUP site systems on BGCONTENT2.

My Question is:
Do we have to distribute the software update package content to remote DP?

If we add PSERVER1 as SUP sitesystem and REMPTE01 as Distribution point for remote site under references boundary group BGCONTENT2, from where the remote site client systems get their content? do they get the content from SUP server PSSERVER1 in primary site or local DP REMOTE01 in remote site?

If clients get their content from SUP then what is the point of distributing the package to remote DP?

Many thnks
Raj

Answering your questions :-

1) Yes you have distribute the software update package to DP. I believe the DP should hold that content to distribute it to other clients else there is no need for DP.

2) Remember that clients always download the content from DP and not SUP.

3) Clients do not get the content from SUP, a DP is still required.
