I successfully used the cmupdate reset tool and the download began again.
It got stuck again in the same spot.
The gist of the dmpdownloader.log is:
ERROR: Failed to download redist for 454b3508-4387-4106-9441-283495dec3ec with command /RedistUrl http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=855648 /LnManifestUrl http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=855631 /RedistVersion 201810 /NoUI "\\(FQDN)\EasySetupPayload\454b3508-4387-4106-9441-283495dec3ec\redist" .

Any thoughts?
Karen

no- that is the only error. However, in the cmupdate log I found this: I did the cmupdate reset tool so many times, and each time would get a different number of cab files in the redist folder- they look like language files.

I finally got it. I figured out that the redist folder was not populating the with the correct number of language files... I kept running the cmupdatereset and it would put me back to square one.
Instead I waited a few hours and "checked for updates"... this would download a few more. I had to do this several times before all the files were downloaded. I read that others had the issue of language files not properly downloading, so I knew I was on to something.
After continously checking for updates at staged intervals, I finally got all the files downloaded and was able to upgrade. :-)
