SOLVED SCCM 1610 Update stuck at "Checking Prerequisite"

I have Config Manager 1602 installed in our lab. I want to update it to 1610. I saw it available in Updates and servicing. I did start the prerequisite check first to make sure it has all the required things installed. Unfortunately it is stuck at "Checking Preqrequisite" state for more than 5 days now. I have restarted the SMS_Executive service multiple times, yet no change. How do i get pass this and install 1610 update?

Did the prerequisite check step complete ?. Whats in the ConfigMgrPrereq.log file located on c drive ?.

I ma not sure if it is completed. The ConfigMgrPrereq.log in this case is very old (i see last entry somehwere in Aug -2016). Any another log or way i can use to figure the status of completion?

So yeah i have been noticing the same issue. My observations so far are that since i installed the initial 1610 none of the later updates up to 1702 are passing "Checking prerequisites" state. There is no status in the Monitoring area. All the logs show the SetupWPf starts and completes successfully after couple of minutes.
So far i have tried deleting the update from SQL UpdatePackage table (did this for one of four updates that came after 1610 was installed), resetting the configuration manager site without changing the configuration.

According to it the issue might come from duplicate entries. However i don't want to apply this without confirmation it is working.

I don't recommend that. It might leave you with no options other than DB restore. My suggestion is open a case with MS and try to get it fixed.
