Hi everyone,
I’m looking for help diagnosing a PXE boot issue on an existing SCCM Distribution Point with PXE enabled for OSD. I am trying to osd Windows Server 2025 to my vmware vm.
Initially, 2 weeks ago, after I enabled PXE on DP it was working flawlessly, but for some reason stopped working.
Symptoms
If I boot the same machine from ISO, the Task Sequence starts and runs normally.
What I’ve tried so far
I’m looking for help diagnosing a PXE boot issue on an existing SCCM Distribution Point with PXE enabled for OSD. I am trying to osd Windows Server 2025 to my vmware vm.
Initially, 2 weeks ago, after I enabled PXE on DP it was working flawlessly, but for some reason stopped working.
Symptoms
- Client receives an IP address from DHCP
- Screen hangs on “Contacting Server…”
- After ~80–90 seconds it fails with: Windows Deployment Services encountered an error: 0x102
If I boot the same machine from ISO, the Task Sequence starts and runs normally.
What I’ve tried so far
- Toggled Enable PXE support for clients on/off
- Redistributed content
- Recreated the boot image from scratch
- Reinstalled ADK + WinPE add‑on
- Removed and re‑added the boot image to the DP
- Restarted PXE responder service
- Reinstalled PXE responder on the DP
