Hello

I recently got PXE and OSD working, and can install computer OS's using PXE, but having some issues when trying to deploy to a known machine in Software Center.

I have created a new task sequence that I want to do User State Migration and install new OS, currently Windows 10 Image on a Windows 7 machine.

But it fails instantly, trying to get log info but not really seeing anything in logs with how fast it fails, what log would give information about that.

One thing I noticed on most fails that shouldn't be is when you select the Software in Software Center and click install, it pops up the this is an OS install but says "This is an In Place upgrade ... " This is not true, not an upgrade in any manor, does it say that because I have User state migration enabled.

Going to make a new task sequence without USMT and see if same error comes up.

Thanks

Are you using some thing like this ?. May i know how have you configured In-place upgrade to windows 10 ?.

No, that is why I find it weird that it says in place upgrade. I am not doing an upgrade at all, the image deployed is using the first option Install and existing image. And it works for machines if PXE booted but not through SCCM Software center. I have seen the same results with a Windows 7 and 10 image trying to do it through software center on a known machine, but they work if I PXE them it normally installs fine, but not from within software center.

Update -- So I created one without any User State Migration, and waiting but appears it may work which had happened before on my one that went from 10 down to 7, but still got the message with attached pictures now. First image, shows the message that comes up, even though its not set as an in place upgrade. Other images are the task sequences I have created. First is the one running now which may succeed will update, Second is the one that failed with the error, 3rd has succeeded once. Going to keep testing and updating

Update, the installs work at least 1 so far when set to just image from SCCM Software Center. Did a windows 8.1 and had 7 deployed it selected it in Software Center and it installed Windows 7. Also just redid this from 7 back to 8.1 and it functions, just showing that weird upgrade saying.

Going to try one more time at adding USMT back in.
