Hi Prajwal,

Currently, our organization uses SCCM for monthly patching, as well as for deploying packages and applications across all our Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025).
Starting next year, some of these servers will be migrated to the cloud, while new servers will be provisioned directly in the cloud depending on application requirements. However, we will still maintain a number of on-premises servers.
Given this hybrid setup, we’re exploring the best approach moving forward. We’re considering the following options:
  1. Using Azure Arc – From what I understand, Azure Arc supports patching for Microsoft and SQL updates, but may have limitations for other types of updates.
  2. Maintaining our SCCM infrastructure on-premises – This would allow us to continue managing both on-prem and cloud servers, but may require additional configuration.
  3. Migrating SCCM to the cloud – This could potentially simplify management for cloud-based servers, but we’re unsure of the implications for on-prem systems.
Could you share your thoughts or recommendations on which option might be most effective for our scenario?
Thanks in advance!
