Hello,

We have recently moved from Visio/Project LTSC to Visio Plan 2 and Project Plan 3.

In the meantime I am about to replace all existing Office versions in our environment to Office 365 (latest version available from MECM & Monthly update channel)
Office install has been a success, removing Office 2016, 2021, LTSC and existing 365 installs as well as any Visio or Project installs.

The plan was to then allow the Visio and Project users to install the desktop versions of these apps from Software Centre.

When testing the install of MS Project Desktop, I get the error "This product can't be installed on the selected update channel." (screenshot provided). Both the O365 and the Project XML specify Monthly Update channel. I have tried adjusting this to having no channel specified as per MS Office documentation but still face the same issue.

Any advice on how I can get Project and Visio desktop clients to install on top of O365?

Hi, just to update I have now got this working and it was a fairly simple issue in the end..

To solve I simply had to delete the "Office" folder from the sources location, leaving only the setup.exe and the configuration.xml.

It now installs on top of O365 with no issues.

There were several steps to get to this stage, so I'm happy to support anyone in the same boat.
Just to reiterate, this is in MECM / SCCM deployment as I need to do it on a bigger scale. So in reality every PC would be affected once O365 is installed and updated.

I guess my question is; Is it possible to install Project Desktop after O365 via SCCM?

Let's say I upgrade 1000 computers with O365 and then some people choose to install Project via Available app in Software Center, is it possible for this to work?

The purpose of the above instruction is to determine if we can manually install the application first before proceeding with the SCCM deployment. If any issues arise during these steps, we will need to identify and implement fixes. These fixes will then be included along with the package installation to ensure optimal results

Understood, sorry for the assumption.. it was a long day of failures! Will do this and report back shortly
