SOLVED Failed to install DP role on existing server SCCM 2012

Hi Prajwal,

I have removed the DP role from one of my site server and I am getting the error while installing the role. Please suggest.
On the site server we have various roles installed:
1. DHCP
2. WDS
3. MDT

First of all I suggest you install the DP role on a different server. After checking the log file I see multiple errors. Can you tell me OS details on which you are installing DP role and SCCM version ?.

Hi Prajwal,

We are facing the same issue in our environment and we are geting the same error messages.
We have SCCM 1606 and we are trying to install DP role in Wndows 7 machine. Once we initiate DP role installation from the primary, it creates empty SMS_DP$ and SCCMContentLib folders and nothing happens beyong that.

We are getting the same error messages mentioned above once we check the distmgr.log in the primary server. All the required ports seems to be open on either side and reinstalling the role does not help. Reimaging the machine also did not help. We have multiple windows 7 DP working in the same location.

Try to manually copy smsdp.dll file from SCCM server to destination DP server and initiate installation.
