Hi,

I’m starting to install a new SCCM infrastructure and for that, for now, there is a SQL server with 2 instances and a CAS (instance1) and a Primary (instance2).

CAS installation went ok but, on the first attempt to install primary server to join CAS, there was an error and the communication between server and SQL was lost.
Because of the failure, the installation was not completed and I could not uninstall it in the normal way.

Deleted DB on SQL server, site on CAS and all reg keys that I could found on all servers.

After this, every time I try to install primary site, this error appears.

Any thoughts??

First off you only need a CAS if you have over 150,000 computers.
Next you CAN NOT share a SQL server with a CAS and Primary as this completely defeats the purpose of having a CAS and Primary.
it is unclear if you uninstall the CAS before installing the primary.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
The main purpose of the CAS, is to administrate the different costumers/entities from a single point. Currently we manage +/- 80 different clients and the intention is to have all servers connected on SCCM to perform various tasks/deploys/patch.
Regarding SQL, the idea is to have a SQL server with several instances, each one for each primary sccm server.
The CAS server wasn't uninstalled. The primary server was stuck on the first installation and I couldn't recover it. I had to uninstall all from control panel, delete folders and reg keys. Also on CAS, I was able to delete all the info from the primary site, On the SQL server, I deleted the DB's and also all the reg keys for the primary site.
Now, when trying to reinstall, it gives this error ...

errr is it not going to work like that for the CAS. You need to complete rethink this as it will NOT work the way you expect. PowerShell would be my suggestion.

You can only have one CM instance on a SQL server.

Hi @sguerreiro,
Please keep in mind that having multiple child primary site does not create any type security boundary between your different clients (I'm assuming that you'll be setting up a child primary site for each client here) as all (or a vast majority) of the data is Global Data and will be available across ALL child primary sites.
Thanks - BH

Exactly what problem are you having? Are you trying to share two CM site with one SQL server?
Hello Garth,

My collegue send a wrong kaspersky workstation package (with KES server) to the System Center MP server and this package removed all MP features and deleted the SQL database too.

We have the database backup but not the MP backup maintenance task. So, we are trying to reinstall the MP (the CD recover option is greyed out ) and point the database to the restored sql backup but during the installation process we are facing the message of dedicated instance is required...

Please, share If you have some suggesting.

We are opening too a case with MS support too.
Tks.

Remove the MP via console
Wait 10 minutes
Add it back.
