Hi there,

Have to start as apologies, total noob to SCCM, but inherited a rough running server that I'm trying to stabilize. There are a number of issues with it, one to begin with is that the server is 1TB and can't tidy up due to some pending (error state) deployments - not to mention it does not patch servers either. One of the things I found that one of the deployment packages fail and with some digging on the distmgr.log I have found the following error:

~The source directory \\sprosccm01\SOURCES\SOFTWAREUPDATES\SERVER\b34228db-40f6-4620-a72d-e9ed59ca659c doesn't exist or the SMS service cannot access it, Win32 last error = 2 $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><02-24-2020 16:56:59.773+00><thread=16512 (0x4080)>

have checked and indeed \\sprosccm01\SOURCES\SOFTWAREUPDATES\SERVER\b34228db-40f6-4620-a72d-e9ed59ca659c does not exist to not entirely sure where to go from here - can someone point me to the right direction?

Hi SzosszeNET
Seeing that there is no content (error 2 = file not found) I would start over with the updates. Either recreate the Automatic Deployment Rule, and/or recreate Software Update packages and re-downloading the content.

The Issue with software updates is, you need to follow the process systematically, otherwise you will not know where your process is broken.

Firstly, check the Software Update point, ensure that all products and classifications are selected for your specific environment
From there I would sync the software update point (Monitor under monitoring -> Software Update Point Synchronization)
Then, I would recreate the Automatic Deployment Rule - I use that even though I don't use the scheduling as extensively.
Be careful with the path you select - It might delete data if you select a folder that already contains files.
Then when you preview the rule, you should see the updates that will install.

Things to consider
Because you are taking over an environment, ensure that there are no maintenance windows, or if there should be, that they are properly set up. This might also cause "nothing" to happen if you are unsure of how it was set up.

Hope this helps
L.
