Hello,

I am trying to setup our 1st instance of SCCM using the current branch version. The server is standalone with SQL and DP installed.

At the minute, I am getting the error "Distribution Manager failed to connect to the distribution point \\server.domain.com MSWNET:[SITE=ABC]server.domain.com\. Check your network and firewall settings."

As everything is installed on a single server and windows firewall is disabled, there is no network or firewall to be concerned with. I have tried removing DP and reinstalling which resulted in the same error. The server object and the domain account used by SCCM is a member of the local administrator group.

I am at a loss of where to look next, could someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

I can see that you have tried to uninstall the DP as well. I see some errors as well.

CWmi::Connect() failed to connect to \\SERVERSCCM.DOMAIN.COM\root\MicrosoftIISv2. Error = 0x8004100E SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER
ERROR DPConnection::ConnectRemoteIISManagementWMI() - Failed to connect to SERVERSCCM.DOMAIN.COM. error = 0x8004100e SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER

Uninstall the DP role, if there is nothing else on the drive format it, install the DP role again. After the DP role is installed, if you see same error check if "install IIS 6 WMI Compatibility" is installed on the server. You can check that under server roles >web server > management tools > IIS 6 management compatibility.

Formatting the drive is not really an option as it has the installation files for SQL and SCCM. I guess I could move them. But before doing that, I will add another drive and test the DP on that.

As for the web server roles, I have the following installed.

[X] Management Tools Web-Mgmt-Tools Installed
[X] IIS Management Console Web-Mgmt-Console Installed
[X] IIS 6 Management Compatibility Web-Mgmt-Compat Installed
[X] IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility Web-Metabase Installed
[ ] IIS 6 Management Console Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console Available
[ ] IIS 6 Scripting Tools Web-Lgcy-Scripting Available
[X] IIS 6 WMI Compatibility Web-WMI Installed
[X] IIS Management Scripts and Tools Web-Scripting-Tools Installed
[X] Management Service Web-Mgmt-Service Installed

In fact, I have been able to solve it.

Your idea of formatting the drive got me thinking, when looking at the drive, there was a number of empty folders, an example one would be SMS_DP$. I remove the DP, then these empty folders, recreate the DP and now it has a green status!
