Hi folks, hope you're all enjoying the holiday period. I just had a query on SCCM thats I cant seem to find a solution for, and was hoping somebody here could point me in the right direction.

I have a new instance of SCCM and configured all required steps to enable Asset Intelligence, at least as far as I'm aware anyway. I've gone through all the steps in Prajwald's very helpful guide here...

So whats happening now is that the inventory is successfully running on the clients, and under Assets and Compliance, I can browse to Asset Intelligence -> Inventoried Software and this shows me a list of all inventoried applications discovered across my domain. I can see the software count column which looks correct so that side of things appears to be working well.

However when I try to run the reports on the same data I'm getting no results. In particular its the reports under Software - Companies and Products that I wish to run. For example if I try to run the All Software Companies or Products For A Specific Computer reports it gives me no results whatsoever.

Would anyone have any suggestions on what what might be the issue?

Many thanks,

Dave

Actually I think I may have found my answer. Am I correct in saying the specific reports I mentioned don't use Asset Intelligence. It sounds like I would need to enable file inventory and report on *.exe to get those particular reports working. If that's the case I may hold off on this as I don't want to add additional overhead to my devices.

The report that you are running displays a list of the inventoried software products and versions from a specified software company or computers and there are many other related reports. If you are not gathering the information about the products the reports will be empty.

Yes that report does use SW inventory and I DON'T recommend turning it on either! There are lots of other built-in reports that will tell you what is installed on a computer.
