Hi,

A bit weird one.

I had two servers upgraded from Windows 2008 to 2016.

Prior to the upgrade, the two servers were part of a collection that has a maintenance windows ONLY for software updates and I had Windows Server 2008 as the limiting collection. Obviously, once upgraded, the two servers were removed from the collection as they are not part of the limiting collection.

I assumed that the servers once removed from the collection wouldnt have maintenance window assigned to them and i have also checked the collections that the servers are part of and they dont have any maintenance window assigned.

So, I deployed an app to the Servers during daytime and ran machine policy and nothing happened. Came in this morning and the app was not deployed until it reached a maintenance window. However, i couldnt find any maintenance window set up for application deployment to those servers.

Pointers please?

Thank you.

Hi Edy,

Check first if the Windows Server 2016 clients got the deployment on the AppEnforce.log & ServiceWindowManager.log located in "%windir%\CCM\Logs".

Let us know for the result.

Hi Youssef,

Yes, the app was installed when the device was in the maintenance window that was initially set from midnight to 4AM for Software Updates. However, I have not setup any maintenance window for App Deployment.

When I tried to run machine policy after the app deployment, there was no log in AppEnforce nor ServiceWindowManager.

I also used this tool here Link and it says that the deployment is waiting for maintenance window.

Hey Edy, I'd run a query to grab this server and list all collections that it belongs to, more likely they will be in a collection with a maintenance hours set.

I agree with Mahmoud87.
It's better also if you removed them from the old Server 2008 collection (If they are added as direct rules).

thanks guys. will do a query.
I used query for my collection, so the server was removed from the 2008 collection.
