PENDING Additional SMS Provider

Microsoft's Tier 3 support for our case are recommending we add another SMS Provider to enhance console performance.

Do you recommend adding the role to an existing server (MP, DP, Report Server, SQL server, etc.) or a new server to handle the SMS Provider role? Thanks in advance.

Deciding on this can be challenging, but I recommend hosting the role on a new server. This approach prevents the additional SMS Provider role from consuming system and network resources that are better allocated to site database operations when installed on a site server or site database server. Hosting the role on a separate computer ensures dedicated resources; however, it’s important to note that this server must remain consistently accessible to the site database server and all computers with the Configuration Manager console installed. Additionally, you might encounter some performance issues when setting up the role on a separate machine.
