Hi,

I have been trying to install patches through SCCM. I have followed your guideline and reconfirmed that all the steps suggested by you are followed. Still when I am deploying the patches client is not receiving any update. Windows update finishes with status as "Windows is up to date" but when I try to locate patches online it shows 171 patches are available. Also all the required log files are showing successful completion of package deployment.

Kindly suggest what can be the issue.

Regards,
Hiren Shinde.

In an environment where SCCM is handling software updates you will never see anything except "Windows is up to date" when running Windows Update on a client. The WSUS server doesn't serve updates directly to clients, they do check into the WSUS though. Software updates come from software update groups being created manually or via ADR's then deployed to device collections.

Can you speak to your setup?

I am the only person who has done the setup.. The process i followed is as under:
1. Sync WINDOWS UPDATES on SCCM.
2. Created software update groups for windows 7 and windows 8 with by selecting respective updates.
3. Downloaded all required updates/
4. Deployed software group respective collection of windows 7 and windows 8. Selected deployment type as required. Scheduled as soon as possible.
5. Download settings selected as download updates from DP and install.
6. Deployment options selected as download and install software updates from fallback content source location.
7. Download location : download software from internet.
That's it.

Also I am deploying them manually as of now. Haven't created ADR yet.

How long has everything been setup? It takes a bit for everything to get rolling.

What are the statuses of your SUG's? You should see "Yes" for Deployed/Downloaded, and a number greater than 0 for # of Collections Deployed to/# of Updates. Run summarizations on them if needed to get stats on compliance.

Hi... The issue has been resolved.. I removed the sccm client from all clients and reinstalled it... And it started working like charm.. May be they were not recognizing the update point properly..
