Good Day and hoping someone might be able to assist.
For the last 4yrs I’ve been successfully deploying Windows 10 Monthly Security Updates via SCCM to around 500 devices. We’ve never had an issue, and on first pass it would be successful to 95% of the devices with no issues.
During our last monthly deployment, we only had a 70% success rate. In most cases the Software Updates were downloaded to ccmcache folder, and in other situations they did not download at all. For most of the devices, once we reinstalled the SCCM Client from within the Configuration Manager Console they would communicate, download and install. Why this was needed, when this was never needed in the past we do not know, but it worked.
That being said we have about 10% of our devices that although it reinstalled the client it would not download anything. We even uninstalled the client from the computer directly, and reinstalled the client manually, and same result. Some additional items to share:
I would love to share the logs if that would help anyone point me in the right direction, so please let me know which logs would be helpful and I can grab them.
If there are any other suggestions or if someone recognizes this issue and has some thoughts please feel free to share.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I’m prepared to get any information to share as quickly as possible
SCCM Client currently installed on our endpoints: 5.00.9128.1030
Windows 10 19045 is installed on all devices.

- Today we even rebooted the SCCM Server just in case that would help, which unfortunately it did not.
- The devices in question are spread out throughout our sites in the U.S.
- There are computers at those sites that DID UPDATE with no issues, which is why this is confusing to us and so random.
- We tried to create new software updates groups to push newer patches to see if it was an issue with the old patches, but they did not download to the local client
- We tried a few of the devices that did update previously and they are downloading and installing the new patches with no issues.
I would love to share the logs if that would help anyone point me in the right direction, so please let me know which logs would be helpful and I can grab them.
