Hello,

I have an SCCM system with a primary server and 30 Distribution points. Every month or so 1, 2 or sometimes 3 of my servers will randomly be missing WDS. I only find out about it because someone will contact me saying they are not getting a boot.wim. The Server still thinks PXE is installed. It seems completely random and it is rarely a server that has had the issue before. I suspect monthly updates doing something and upon reboot the server is missing the role but I have not been able to track anything down in event viewer or log files. Anyone seen anything like this? I was able to google a thread of someone else seeing this but no possible solution or causes.

Thanks

Are you sure that updates are uninstalling the WDS role ?. When you login to any of those server > services don't you see WDS service running ?. I suggest you examine log files or event viewer to determine what's causing the uninstall.
