Hi,
Two concerns

1. Our School has Windows versions as below
- Windows 7 - Build 7601
- Windows 10 1607 - Build 14393
- Windows 10 1703 - Build 15063
- Windows 10 1803 - Build 17134
- Windows 10 1809 - Build 17763
- Windows 10 1903 - Build 18362

I want to update / upgrade all the machines to the latest version of windows. What is the best possible practice to do so.

2. When the laptops will receive the updates, once they are connected to the school network, I want them to download and install the necessary updates and do the restart by pop up "Restart Later" or some kind of notification so the teachers can restart later when they go home.

Any help in this regard is much much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Romit

Hi Romit,

1. You can download the latest Windows 10 version 1909 and perform an In-Place upgrade following this guide:

2. Just make two deployments, the first is for student devices collection with a required restart, the second is for teachers devices collection with a suppress restart, don't forget to check the Restart options in your client settings, more details:

Hi Youssef,
A quick question, will the upgrade happen even for existing Windows 10 devices running on older build numbers?

Yes, It's supported also for older Windows 10 versions.
If you are using any third-party Antivirus, you may have an issue with the Windows 10 In-Place upgrade, It's recommended to uninstall it before this operation.

I usually get this errors.
The one with the error code is when I do a "Required" deployment.
And the other with the restart error is when multiple computers are trying to update at the same time. Some work, some dont work and give errror
