PENDING Unable to Install Teams, Config Manager/Software Center Detect Teams When It is Not Installed

I accidently uninstalled(thought I was on the RDP PC) Teams on my machine by uninstalling Teams Machine-Wide installer in Programs and Features. Now I am unable to install it from Software Center, and even using the MSI installer does not install it. So not sure what to do here?

Here are my steps:
  1. 1. Confirm Teams is not installed in Programs and Features
  2. 2. Use Config Manager to clear my cache
  3. 3. Attempt to install Teams from Software Center
Software Center proceeds to download and then "install" Teams successfully and then lists it as installed in Software Center. However its nowhere on my system that I can see and so I can't launch it.

When I search my registry by MSI Product Code, nothing comes back, no results found.
From Config Manager:
Installation program: msiexec /i "Teams_windows_x64.msi"
Uninstall program: msiexec /x {731F6BAA-A986-45A4-8936-7C3AAAAA760B}
Detection Method: MSI Product code: {731F6BAA-A986-45A4-8936-7C3AAAAA760B}

Would appreciate any direction here or where to go next on this..

p.s.Rebooted just now and saw that Teams Machine-Wide installer is in Programs and Features but still unable to launch Teams nor does it show in Programs and Features but Software Center displays it as installed.

forgot to include the AppEnforce log..

Says its installed, and so does Software Center but its nowhere to be found?

What am I missing?

Are you sure that is is not installed as the local system account?
Garth,
I'm not sure I follow?

What we ended up doing was adding the switch to the installation in deployment:

i.e.

Code:
msiexec /i "Teams_windows_x64.msi" ALLUSERS=1

and updated detection method to product code and version.

However even the, the only way to successfully launch Teams was by navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\Teams Installer and manually clicking the Teams.exe.

Now I have Teams running...

By default all install run using the local system account. https://www.enhansoft.com/how-to-access-the-local-system-account/

Most TEAM installs will install for the local user, if you are using the local system account to install then it will be that account that will have teams installed.

I quickly reviewed this thread and it is unclear to me, exactly what problem you are now trying to solve since getting teams installed.
Hello Garth,

Long Story short: I am trying to deploy Teams via Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. Then I will need to create a Task sequence to uninstall x86 Teams Machine-Wide installer and install x64 Teams Machine-Wide Installer.

I am using Microsoft and Praj's guides for Microsoft Teams Deployment Using SCCM [Using MSI Installers]. Links here: Microsoft, Praj

However I am running into some issues:

  1. Even using MSI code, the application is not detected even tho code appears in registry
  2. Teams Wide still appearing in Programs & Features even tho using: msiexec /i “Teams_windows_x64.msi
  3. If Teams is uninstalled, it will not install even if team-wide-installer is installed again because directories and registries exist. How to integrate Microsofts provided script to clean up?
Appreciate any and all input on this..

Otherwise how are other organizations AUTOMATING Teams install via Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager?

Forgot to add my Deployment and detection method screenshots..

The following install command might help

Install command : msiexec /i "Teams_windows_x64.msi" OPTIONS="noAutoStart=true" ALLUSERS=1 /qn & timeout 30 /Nobreak >null & "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Teams Installer\Teams.exe" -s

The key here is after the installation of Teams Machine Wide installer (msiexec /i "Teams_windows_x64.msi" OPTIONS="noAutoStart=true" ALLUSERS=1 /qn)
the expectation is to run the teams.exe from the above location ("%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Teams Installer\Teams.exe" -s)
The above works without any issues if run from a command prompt but i am having trouble when deploying the app from Intune as a win32. When I use the above I get a Windows Installer pop suggesting various syntax
The weird thing is in MECM we only have msiexec /i "Teams_windows_x64.msi" OPTIONS="noAutoStart=true" ALLUSERS=1 /qn and this does install both Teams and Teams machine wide installer.

Any suggestions ?
