Hi,

We are testing the new Dell Pro 16 Plus laptop (PB16255 - AMD version) in Configuration Manager. We are using PXE boot to launch a task sequence to install a Windows 11 23H2 on it.
The first time everything went well. WinPE started and this started the task sequence. The OS was perfectly installed.
Now we like to re-image the device again and PXE boot starts, WinPE loads and at the first reboot the previous OS is started instead of the task sequence.
We already reverted the device to factory status (also downloaded the Dell OS image via the BIOS) but the issue stays.
We tested with our own boot image with injected Dell drivers.
We tested with a boot image generated by the Dell Command software.
I looks that there is something cached or the system thinks the task sequence has already ran.
Smsts.log (which is too large to upload) does not give any specific error or useful information.
We deleted disk 0 via WinPE -> some issues with BIOS boot order, but task sequence will not start
We factory reset the devices -> same issue returns to the Dell OS
Return BIOS to default values -> same issue
We clear PXE flag before every test.
We also recreated the device from scratch in Configuration Manager.
We do not have issues with our HP laptops of which we re-image a few each day.

Our configuration:
Config Manager 2503 (with KB34503790 and KB33177653 installed)
Dell Command Integration Suite for System Center version 6.6.1.6
ADK + add-on version 10.1.26100.2554
Boot image from Dell WinPE-A37-THR8D-x64 (10.0.26100.1)
Own boot image 10.0.26100.1

Any ideas about what could cause this?

Kind Regards,

Bart

I have a similar problem — have you found a solution yet?

We have successfully deployed more than 100 devices of the Dell PB16250 model using the task sequence. Last week we ordered a new batch, but this batch fails to complete the task sequence. The error is:

Error 0xc0430001, which indicates a critical Windows boot failure, often caused by corrupted system files, faulty drivers, or Code Integrity verification failures (winload.efi).

I have already updated the drivers in the boot image, but without any result.

Our issue was caused by a problem with an HP driver pack which fails at the end of import. The HP driver pack contains the same network/storage drivers that Dell uses. The drivers were registered in Configuration Manager but due to the failure the drivers were not automatically distributed to the PXE servers.
I manually distributed the drivers and this solves our problem.
