I have searched and found no answers as to why I am getting this error on my sync. And after hours of obsessing i may have caused other issues. I uninstalled WSUS etc... In any case does anyone have any info on this error to point me in the right direction.

Is there enough disk space on the server where you download the updates ?.
PRAJWAL Thank you so much. I can't tell you how many guides i've used of yours truly appreciative of your vast knowledge. So to answer your question yes plenty of disk space.

So onto my next issue i had uninstalled WSUS and attempted to start from scratch. i can install the WSUS roll not problem but no matter what i've tried always fails the post installation task. I have been at it for 3 days now and super frustrated. any help would be greatly appreciated.

In my case, a simple restart of the server that WSUS resides did the trick. I had a database blip during the day that caused some issues.
