NEW Stopping Clients from Updating and check in on WSUS

Hi,
Just setting up a test lab and wondering firstly how do I prevent clients from checking up updates manually and also stopping checking for updates online button as well so everything has to go through CM
Also I was on the understanding that for an overview of how the machines were in relation to patches, on the MECM server you could look in WSUS but in here it shows the computer has not reported status yet.
This will be GPO I believe but cannot find any articles that cover this 100%.

The reporting issue is sorted with WSUS via the above article using the best answer but still trying to sort the GP for not allowing the clients to check for updates....Thanks,
