Hi
almost 10 out of 70 of our desktop and laptop clients showing inactive. one that is i am testing on was active even few days ago. I can also remote desktop from cnfg mngr or see resources.
I forced all actions from client config manager too.
I checked all logs including location, clientlocation, ClientIDManagerStartup.log, and other logs but have not found any significant errors. on the update logs it shows all the software update requests being made.
i turned off firewall and also nothing has been changed on this client recently, except that on DC i have moved it from one group to another under same OU and also checked under system discovery. The OU computers were already added as LDAP but i added that group under that OU as well and ran system discovery. i also ran heart beat discovery.
But still the client is Inactive. what do i do to make these clients active again?

Mcafee virus scan enterprise. and the active clients also have same antivirus installed. also, the client showing inactive was active just two weeks ago and was active for last 2 years. nothing recently changed on the antivirus either.

one thing i did though recently was cleaning up the computer with ccleaner and automatic clean with that. should that cause any issue? if so what is the solution? but not only this machine, almost 15 other active clients also showing inactive status which i have not changed anything.

Hi Prajwal,

Not sure if question is completely related to the thread or not but doesn't hurt to ask :)

In any SCCM environment, there are machines which are left out and either Monthly Windows update or any software push is not applied to all the machines. There are always bunch of machines left out with Errors. I have seend the same thing in My environment ( SCCM 2012 SP1, 1000 machines, win 7 ) where deployment reaches to around 90% and most of the time it doesn't reach to same machines. I was thinking to do a manual check on those machines and its being left out from almost all the application push and windows updates.

I was thinking while we carry out this manual excercise, any steps that you suggest to perform.

I was thinking to Remove Sotware center from client machine, restart and then install it back manually, Any suggestions. Just want to make this manual activity fruitful as this manual approach would not be possible over and over again.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards

Qazi
