Hi

I wonder if there is a way to install management point on a non domain machine. Currently in my lab environment, machine.local is able to resolve sccm's fqdn and vice versa. After pushing management install installation, SMS folder is created and 4 sub folders are created without logs. (bin,Client,CMUClient and scripts). Is there a way to install mp on a non domain machine or the machine should be a domain member?

Thanks in advance

Hi Garth Thank you very much for your response.

What about Distribution point? Microsoft says machine must be a domain member for dp role also. But i found an entry on the net stating that he was successful with installing dp role on a workgroup machine (Link is here : http://eddiejackson.net/wp/?p=14988). I thought maybe there is a workaround or something for doing this.

DP are different. But why install a DP on a WG computer? What is your goal? Why cause yourself headaches as you clearly have a domain for CM, why not add the VM to the domain?

Thank you Garth. You are exactly right. But we are trying to implement SCCM according to customer's current design. They have several small companies. And some of them does not belong to a forest/domain at all. This is why i wanted to be sure. If MP installation is impossible on a nondomain machine, this means implementing a domain is a must. Thank you very much for your response.
