Hello all,
I've found that the software count is having problem in Asset Intelligence. Our site have 2200+ active clients with hardware inventory and AI turned on for a long time.
I customized some reports using the data (only doing SELECT) from the table [dbo].[INSTALLED_SOFTWARE_DATA] and had been neat and nice.

Recently we upgraded to 2006 and found that the software count number is having problem and only very few software numbers are counted.

e.g. All clients are either having Office 2013 or 2016 installed (it's inside the windows 10 deployment WIM image) and only some of them are counted.

I went directly into the [dbo].[INSTALLED_SOFTWARE_DATA] table and found that it contains only 8000+ rows (which is very few compared to what expected to be 200k+ rows)

What caused the problem and how may I fix it?
Thanks!

Andrew

I just noticed that the "SMS_InstalledSoftware" check box was unchecked.
is it some default settings from a particular upgrade (mentioned above that this issue happens after 2006 upgrade).

I re-checked this box and seems the softwarecount increasing, will see the result in one week (7 days inventory interval).
First Off it is unsupported to query the table directly, use the supported views only.

Secondly you console query is NOT the same saem a querying from that table.

Thirdly, MS Office is a poorly written app for SW management, with muleply enters per versions

Fourly, MS Office DOESN'T always show up correctly, particularly if it is the CTR version.

Thanks for your

Thanks for your reply.

I understand we should use the view for customizing reports. but since the corresponding table contain so few rows, the View also has the same problem.

And, actually the problem does not only affect Office, it affects all other software. The deeper problem is there are only 8000+ rows in the table which was not like that before.

I am thinking there are problems populating data into the table from hardware inventory.

Thanks
Andrew

Check to see that AI is setup correctly.

Check you HW inv health.
