Hello everyone,
I’m currently facing an issue with SCCM version 2503 related to PXE network boot and would really appreciate your advice.

Issue description

Sometimes, when a client tries to boot via network (PXE), it fails to obtain an IP address. The PXE boot does not proceed and the machine gets stuck at the initial network boot stage.
The issue is intermittent. When it happens, the only way to make PXE boot work again is to:
  • Restart the SCCM server, or
  • Restart the WDS Server service (sometimes restarting related SCCM services also helps)
After restarting the services/server, PXE boot works normally again.

Environment

  • SCCM version: 2503
  • PXE enabled (WDS / PXE responder)
  • DHCP is on a separate server (if needed, I can provide more details)

Questions

  1. What should I check to identify the root cause of this issue?
  2. Are there any known bugs or known issues with PXE / network boot in SCCM 2503?
  3. Which logs should I focus on when the issue occurs?
  4. Is there any recommended configuration or permanent fix to prevent this from happening?

So far, restarting WDS/SCCM services is only a temporary workaround, and I would like to resolve it properly.

Thanks in advance for your help.
