A chunk of our machines on 20H2 are missing the May service stack update (KB5003173). This update is required in order to install the PrintNightmare patch (KB5004945). The May SSU is not in SCCM at all anymore and I think it is because it was superseded. I tried to import it into WSUS and then "Approve" it and then sync the SUP in Config Manager. The wsyncmgr.log shows that it skipped the update because it was superseded. I can't seem to find any update that would replace that May update to enable us to install that printer patch.

Anyone know the best way to get that update back into SCCM so I can deploy it to the PCs that seemed to have missed it? Any help would be appreciated.

I came across someone who had a similar issue on Reddit and the was the solution they posted:

I found that the missing May CU patch is KB5003173, so downloaded it for 2004, 20H2, and 21H1. I found this problem was only affecting 20H2 machines in my environment so created a batch file and a package to be pushed as required to all 20H2 machines via collection with system query ending in: OS version like "10.0.19042%". Batch is: Start /WAIT wusa.exe "%~DP0KB5003173.msu" /quiet /norestart.

Once this update was installed and machines rebooted, the KB5004945 patch installed successfully.

I will move forward with this and see if I can deploy this SSU with a batch file in a package. I will report back here soon if this deployment works.
