Hello All

I currently have a config manager setup with a remote SQL database. Due to performance issues with other applications (and SCCM being blamed) it's been requested that the database be removed from the remote SQL server onto another server where these other application databases don't live. We're currently looking at our options. We'd like to co locate the database on the primary site server.

1. Increase the resource on the current primary site server and co locate the database
2. Start fresh and build a new Primary site server with co located database.

Option 1 would be the least intrusive, essentially installing SQL and migrating the database. Option 2 is appealing, fresh install on a new server with the desired co located database.

Is option 2 viable? Is it possible to build a new primary site server and replace the existing? If yes does anyone have any resources they could point me to or guidance on the correct method?

Also any thoughts are welcome on the proposed solution or additional ideas.

Many thanks

Both options are fine but it all depends on what the business approves and how much time you have been given to complete this job. Option 1 should not take much as compared to option 2 where you want to install new primary site server.
May I ask how many clients do you have in your setup ?.
