PENDING Orphaned SQL server - reuse

I had MCM 2403 setup with Primary server and separate SQL database server. The primary crashed and was unrecoverable. I am standing up a new environment and need to use the same sql server but SCCM install is giving an error "Configuration Manager requires a dedicated SQL Server instance to host its site database."
The old database was delete from SQL.

I am curious to understand what caused the primary site server to crash and instead of setting up new site, did you not try to recover the existing setup?
