PENDING Moving SCCM Db to AZ SQL Server

Does MS support placing the SCCM Db on a VM in Azure running SQL? I have a the primary site server in our data center as a VM and it is hosting most of the SCCM services along with the Db. What I would like to do is move the Db off of this computer onto the SQL in Azure. We have a 500Mb ExpressRoute from our data center to Azure. I just can't find anywhere to say weather or not this configuration is supported. I know we can't use a managed instance of SQL because of windows authentication. That's why I'm choosing a full VM.

I will bite, why would you want to do that? All the support options are listed within the docs. Keep in mind that you get a SQL server license for SCCM.

So, to Garth's question. We need to get the Db off of the MP server. It's using too many resources on the box. We are going to move it to a dedicated SQL server and if we can, we'd like to put it on a VM running SQL in Azure instead of our data center since we are moving other resources to Azure.

Prajwal, I have seen this and this is in reference to a managed instance of SQL. I am aware that this won't work because of the lack of support for Microsoft Windows Authentication. I am trying to find out if a VM running actual SQL would be supported in Azure as it would be if it was in our data center.

As long as the VM is domain joined, running full SQL server, it should be fine. Have I test this before? no. Just remember that CM is chaty with SQL, therefore any latency getting to SQL will be noticed and it will be harder to troubleshot when there is a problem.
